Silvia López Chavez is a visual artist working in murals, painting, and printmaking. Her artist statement places her practice in Boston and describes neighborhood participation as part of how she develops mural content. Her imagery combines realistic figures with vivid geometric patterns. Northeastern University documents 999 Cranes (2018) and Joy (2019) at Ruggles Station, where painted hands, origami and a woman blowing bubbles transform the transit entrance. For Patterned Behavior on Boston’s Esplanade, she worked with a team of women artists on a commission from the Esplanade Association, curated and produced by Now + There. Community Tides (2023), created with New Bedford High School students through DATMA and NORPEL, translates local landscapes and fishing-community life into a large exterior mural on Fish Island.

Sneha Shrestha, known as IMAGINE, brings Devanagari letterforms and graffiti influences into murals, painting and sculpture. Her practice connects language and cultural memory with the experience of shared space. For Cambridge, With Love from Nepal, dated 2018, occupies an MIT building in Cambridge’s Central Square and draws on a Nepali poem. Mindful Mandalas, dated 2019 in her portfolio, was developed with approximately one hundred young participants from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston’s community partners; their small mandalas were incorporated into three large forms painted by Shrestha. Love and Maya, dated 2022, created an interactive mural environment at Boston Children’s Museum, using collaboration between visitors to illuminate paintings. Her portfolio credits Black Cat Labs with engineering that installation.

Stanislav Shminke works with Irina Shminke in a Reno-based practice spanning public art, light art and site-specific installations. Their joint portfolio documents Mir or, a steel installation presented at Burning Man in 2024, and Desert Splash, a fiberglass pool environment from the 2023 event. Burning Man credits both artists for Glorywall in 2018 and Desert Splash, while its 2022 DIPTOWN entry names Stanislav for a landscape of rooftops suggesting a town buried beneath the playa. The official portfolio also includes DIPTOWN within their shared body of work. Washoe County independently identifies the two as Reno-based artists. This individual profile retains Stanislav’s identity while making Irina’s collaboration explicit; a shared portfolio is not evidence of sole authorship or a separate solo studio.

Explore sculptures that physically move: visitor-activated mechanisms, changing forms and wind-driven installations. Compare documented projects, understand how motion shapes the encounter, and identify the site and maintenance questions to resolve with an artist.
Find installations that make listening, musical participation or sound-responsive light part of a place. Compare playable works and spatial compositions, then plan how the experience will share space with visitors, neighbors and everyday activity.
