What the project record tells us
Salisbury Cathedral commission · subsequent festival variations
Wave: a distributed system of light and sound
Wave consists of approximately 500 suspended orbs arranged as a breaking wave. Each unit contains lighting, a speaker, a microcomputer, a movement sensor and wireless connectivity. Squidsoup traces the work to a Salisbury Cathedral commission shown from November 2018 to February 2019, followed by developed variations including Burning Man and Canal Convergence. The studio gives an approximate 16-by-6-by-5-meter envelope for its touring version; that figure belongs to the documented version, not every possible configuration.
Which configuration is proposed, and how will suspension, audio spill, electronics maintenance and public circulation be resolved together?

Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art · 2019–2020
Murmuration: a museum exterior with a daily rhythm
For Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, Squidsoup created Murmuration around the building's exterior using more than 700 networked light-and-sound orbs. Its programmed cycle distinguished daytime birdsong, dusk and dawn transitions, and a quieter nighttime state. The studio dates the exhibition November 2019 to April 2020 and credits sound collaborators Ollie Bown, Garth Paine and Arizona State University students. This provides a museum commissioning precedent in which the work's behavior changes with the time of day.
How should the sound and lighting change across daytime, evening events and nearby residents’ nighttime hours?

Sola: artificial sunlight in a healthcare setting
Sola, also called Tunnel of Light, was first shown outside Guy's Hospital in London from March 8 to April 4, 2021. Hope+Glory commissioned the work with Hyundai sponsorship. Squidsoup describes collimated light sources producing an artificial-sun effect, using LEDs and electronics with acrylic, steel, aluminum and wood. The project documents an installation intended for staff, students, patients and visitors; its atmospheric description should not be treated as a claim of a measured medical benefit.
