Aqueous platform system, developed in 2017

A site layout built from linked platforms

Designed and fabricated in Lewin’s Brooklyn studio in 2017, Aqueous uses modular platforms whose geometry derives from the Golden Ratio. The artist’s code allows each unit to detect interaction while communicating with neighboring units to make connected light pathways. During daylight the surfaces reflect their surroundings; after dark their programmed responses become prominent. A host can use this distinction when considering a route that functions as both a daytime object and an evening experience.

Campbell Art Park, Oklahoma City, August–October 2020

Campbell Art Park: an outdoor exhibition setting

Oklahoma Contemporary records Aqueous at Campbell Art Park from August 6 to October 19, 2020, within its inaugural Bright Golden Haze exhibition. Visitors could follow the illuminated path through the park without buying tickets. The venue’s account describes a daytime reflective surface and nighttime responses to footsteps, dancing and play, alongside that presentation’s distancing instructions. This is a documented arts-center setting for studying how interactive light work joins an existing exhibition program.
