David Oliver develops illuminated sculpture using stained glass, steel and stone. Burning Man’s 2019 archive credits Portal to Oliver and the Art City Monsters: a two-sided, twelve-foot ring assembled from 4, 608 stained-glass tiles between basalt columns. ARTECH’s Reno Playa Art Park 2020 program lists the same work and artist, providing a separate exhibition-host reference. Subsequent event entries describe Petaled Portal in 2022, the twenty-four-foot Beacon with illuminated lamps in 2024, and three glowing globe-topped plant figures called ORBs in 2025. These archive descriptions document the proposed or registered works; they do not establish every installation’s completion or current location. The linked artist reference is ARTECH’s host record, not an artist-controlled website.

Deborah Colotti’s exhibition record spans altered objects, assemblage and installations made for the Black Rock Desert. Her artist résumé records Pit Stop at Burning Man in 2016 and a 2018 Man Base commission, AndroNaut, created in collaboration with Aileen Cormack. The event’s corresponding entry credits the pair as Slightly Twisted Productions and describes a figure whose detached body elements draw on The Wizard of Oz. A later archive entry, Shit$torm in 2022, describes an enterable dollar-sign form using plastic and discarded consumer materials to address waste. The résumé confirms the two earlier exhibition references; the later entry is retained as event-registration evidence. The profile documents this mixture of gallery and participatory practice without treating an older résumé address as a confirmed current studio location.

Dimitri Hadzi (1921–2006) created sculpture in bronze, stone, and ceramics, drawing on classical Greek subjects and modernist forms. After an extended period in Rome, he taught at Harvard from 1975 to 1989. MIT identifies his bronze Elmo-MIT (1963) as its first outdoor sculpture, a work that connects helmet-like forms with architecture and themes of power. His public commissions also include Thermopylae at Boston’s John F. Kennedy Federal Building, the basalt arch River Legend (1976) in Portland, and the granite sculpture-fountain Propylaea (1982) in Toledo. GSA documents River Legend as five joined sections of native stone and records its 2013 relocation within the federal-building site. These works are examples of Hadzi’s historical practice; their documented locations do not establish availability for new placement.

Don Rimx is the professional name of Edwin Sepúlveda, a fine artist and muralist whose own site identifies him as based in Orlando. His practice combines classical painting techniques with graffiti and compositions influenced by architecture, geometric patterns, and relationships between people and their surroundings. Ogden City documents his Grant Avenue mural series, completed in 2021: five large walls responding to local communities, labor, rail history, and cultural traditions. Washington State’s art collection records La Vision Guiada (2021), an acrylic painting on wood panels for the interior commons of Ridgeline High School in Liberty Lake. That site-responsive commission uses a student figure, a falcon, books, and plant forms to explore learning and personal growth.

Douglas Ruuska connects physics, mechanical systems and public participation in large installations. His biography describes work shown in Antarctica, the Black Rock Desert and Boston, and a contribution to the musical pendulums for Björk’s Biophilia project. Mechanica Musica, dated 2016, uses an eight-foot steel wheel as a human-powered programmable music box. Its design combines individually settable pins, hammers and marimba keys, with participants’ movement driving the mechanism; the page also documents the work on the playa. Rayactivation, dated 2018, translates the movement of a cownose ray into an illuminated kinetic sculpture. Its project account discusses motorized wings, fabric tension skins and motion controls, then captions photographs of the finished work at Burning Man. These projects bring scientific observation into shared physical experiences.

Ellsworth Kelly (1923–2015) was an American painter, sculptor, and printmaker whose abstract practice emphasized form, color, and spatial relationships. His work translated observations of nature into precise shapes and extended from paintings to monumental outdoor commissions. Houston Triptych (1986) was commissioned for the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston’s Cullen Sculpture Garden. Double Curve (1988), a pair of bronze forms, debuted with the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, while White Curve (2009) was commissioned for an outdoor courtyard at the Art Institute of Chicago. His architectural project Austin brought colored glass, a redwood totem, and marble panels together in a contemplative building. Kelly gave the design to the Blanton Museum in 2015; the building opened posthumously in February 2018 with work by Overland Partners.

Emily Clanton works across public art and participatory projects for civic, educational and healthcare settings. Her practice combines material engagement with facilitation and documentation. Many Hands, Light Work, completed in 2025, is an exterior tile mural at the Medical University of South Carolina’s James W. Colbert Education Center and Library in Charleston. The artist identifies the Patient and Family Advisory Council as commissioner, MUSC Arts in Healing as manager and Earthbuilt as the fabrication partner for the rammed-earth tiles. Her portfolio also documents Springtime in TR, a 2017 mural in Travelers Rest, South Carolina, executed with student artists through Furman University’s MayX program, and The Ties That Bind Asheville, a participatory fabric installation in Asheville’s River Arts District in 2025. These examples retain their distinct materials, partners and settings without presenting arts-in-health training as proof of clinical outcomes.

Felipe Ortiz combines wildlife imagery, abstraction and strong color in public murals concerned with migration and adaptation. His artist statement connects migratory birds with his own journey from Colombia to the United States. Plumage, documented at Northeastern University in 2020, uses this visual language on the Stearns Center facade facing Huntington Avenue. The university credits its College of Arts, Media and Design makerspace with laser-cutting butterfly stencils that connect the mural visually to a neighboring Jef Aérosol work. Ortiz’s portfolio also records Past Present Future for Cambridge’s Central Square Mural Project in 2019 and Splash Pollinator #2 at Stoklosa Middle School in Lowell in 2024. These site-specific references show work for educational and neighborhood settings while preserving the role of fabrication collaborators and avoiding a claim about the artist’s current residence.
