Documented artwork / kinetic sculpture
Wave Cloud II
Credit as documented: George Sherwood
George Sherwood's stainless steel kinetic sculpture was installed outside the University of Maine's Advanced Structures and Composites Center in 2016. Its moving elements respond to wind, with a 76-inch orbit above a structure 12 feet 6 inches tall. The university identifies the commission as a Maine Percent for Art project associated with its Alfond laboratories expansion. The selection committee connected the work's movement with engineering and ocean and wind energy research. The university's sculpture tour places it in the garden near the center entrance.
