How this work was made and presented

Studio description of the modular installation family.

Independent doors with different stories

B!G ART describes The DOOR(S) as autonomous units that can be grouped or separated. Each contains themed animations drawn from more than 200 videos, with optional exterior clues. The studio also discusses using doors for wayfinding. A host can consequently frame the brief around the distribution of encounters and the desired relationship between discovery and navigation.

Historical festival listings in Vancouver.

A festival spread across public places

Lumière’s 2023 program lists The Doors(s) at several Vancouver locations, including Jim Deva Plaza, Bentall Centre and Lot 19. Its description links opening doors to ideas of opportunity, home and transition. The dispersed program is a useful precedent for connecting separate public spaces through repeated encounters with one recognizable artwork family.
