Documented artwork / interactive illuminated sculpture grouping
Shhh
Credit as documented: Aurora Robson
Shhh is Aurora Robson's illuminated grouping at Metropolitan Park in Arlington, installed in June 2023 according to the county. Thirty-six forms transform found mushrooms and hand-modeled shapes into enlarged, three-dimensional prints. The artist describes post-industrial medical-grade plastic, fiber optics and motion sensors. The lighting brightens gently when people move nearby, with a baseline rhythm compared to calm breathing. Robson connects the work to bioluminescent mushrooms in Virginia woodland. Arlington places it within the wider Met Park public-space project undertaken jointly by JBG Smith and the county.

Materials and construction
The artist gives a 65-by-14-foot extent and seven-foot height for the grouping. Those dimensions apply to the installation, not each mushroom. The county's broader material description is plastic debris.
