Documented artwork / suspended figurative and ribbon installation
Ribbon of Hope & Courage
Credit as documented: Paige Bradley
Ribbon of Hope & Courage is Paige Bradley’s suspended sculpture for the atrium above a surgery waiting area at St. Cloud Hospital in Minnesota. The artist identifies Gallery Du Soleil and the hospital as commissioners. A bronze figure and a long ribbon occupy the overhead space, with the ceiling suspension chosen to avoid interfering with hospital requirements below. Bradley describes the work as a calming presence for families waiting for news of relatives undergoing surgery. The spatial scale belongs to the installation’s 35-foot ribbon; the published figure measures 30 by 27 by 5 inches. This is therefore an indoor architectural commission with a small figure, rather than a freestanding monumental figure. The studio’s project page dates it 2013, while its current curriculum vitae lists the same hospital work in 2012.
