Documented artwork / community memorial and public-art installation

Pillars of the Valley

Damon Davis

Credit as documented: Damon Davis

Pillars of the Valley makes Mill Creek Valley's displaced community visible through sculptural hourglass forms, resident quotations and a layered landscape. Damon Davis developed the project with former residents over five years. Its granite elements record names, ages and occupations; a historic neighborhood map and watershed relief connect individual lives with the land. Parcel lines and addresses appear in the paving, while braille and a tactile model extend access.
