Documented artwork / light and sound installation

Parabolic Lightcloud

Amigo & Amigo

A suspended, rope-based light sculpture uses a spiraling form drawn from natural patterns. More than a thousand lights and a coordinated musical composition create changing emotional atmospheres through color, movement and rhythm.

How this work was made and presented

Studio description of the audiovisual installation

A programmed show made from light and rope

The studio describes Parabolic Lightcloud as a non-interactive work with twenty light animations synchronized to an original Carlos Arango composition. Its published construction description includes 800 metres of rope and more than a thousand lights. The listed 100-square-metre footprint is not a rigging specification. Hosts need the proposed support system, power plan and current touring availability before selecting a location.

Edition 7 presenter and supporting-partner account

An environmental interpretation at Amsterdam

Amsterdam Light Festival’s Edition 7 account connects the work’s spiral geometry with forms in nature. Its supporting water organizations identify the net in that presentation as made from recycled plastic bottles, relating it to waste recovered from canals. This gives a host a specific interpretation precedent; it does not establish the material composition or environmental performance of every later edition.
