Documented artwork / illuminated entrance sculpture

LoveBird

Ed Carpenter

Credit as documented: Ed Carpenter

LoveBird spans the entrance to Dallas Love Field with a wide-winged form suggesting both a bird and an aircraft. Ed Carpenter connects the work with the terminal's modernist architecture and with nearby Mockingbird Lane. The sculpture is slightly canted above a pointed base and stabilized by a fan of slender cables resembling tail feathers. Embedded exterior lights and internal LEDs illuminate its painted stainless steel.
