Documented artwork / digital mural

La Memoria de Nuestra Tierra, Colorado

Judith Baca

Credit as documented: Judith Baca

La Memoria de Nuestra Tierra, Colorado connects Mexican migration to the histories of Latino communities in Colorado. Judith Baca developed the mural through two years of research and conversations with Hispanic residents. Her own family's movement from Chihuahua to Colorado provides one thread within a wider account of migration, labor and struggles for justice. Denver International Airport explains that the imagery includes both widely recognized and anonymous people whose histories are recorded in the landscape.

Denver International Airport central terminal, Denver, Colorado; airport reports temporary storage

    Installation source

Materials and construction

The artist identifies a digital mural on aluminum substrate measuring ten by fifty feet. Her page describes migration through El Paso in 1919–1923; the airport frames the migration through the 1910–1917 Mexican Revolution.

Presentation and site context

The airport currently reports that the mural is temporarily stored because of Great Hall construction. Its former terminal placement does not establish present public access.
