Documented artwork / architectural bird installation
IN to the Sky
Credit as documented: Sayaka Ganz
Sayaka Ganz's IN to the Sky brings twenty-one birds associated with Indiana into the grand staircase of Indiana State University's College of Health and Human Services in Terre Haute. Completed in 2021, the colorful flock is made from reclaimed plastic objects. The birds attach to aluminum elements shaped into partial spirals. Ganz relates their curved movement to the people ascending the staircase, making circulation through the building part of the composition.

Materials and construction
The artist's materials inventory includes rolled aluminum, a painted aluminum armature, hardware, wire and cable ties. Her four-story scale describes the installation's architectural reach through the stair volume; it does not supply individual bird measurements or an exact metric height.
