Ghost Ballet for the East Bank Machineworks

Alice Aycock

Credit as documented: Alice Aycock

Alice Aycock's Ghost Ballet for the East Bank Machineworks stands on the Cumberland River's east bank opposite downtown Nashville. Metro Arts describes it as the city's first Percent for Public Art commission. Curving red steel trusses rise from a crane base, while a separate aluminum form at ground level suggests a swirling turbine. Neon illuminates the center at night. The composition recalls the riverfront's industrial past and its changing recreational surroundings. Metro Arts dates installation to 2007; the artist's project page dates the work 2008.
