Documented artwork / integrated sculptural environment (transit plaza)
Garden Under the Bridge
Credit as documented: Barbara Grygutis
Barbara Grygutis designed this illuminated plaza for Grand MetroLink Station in St. Louis. A pair of perforated steel forms resembling seed pods frames the entrance beneath the Grand Boulevard Bridge. Lighting within the forms and paving changes the setting after dark. Arts in Transit identifies a 2012 commission for Metro St. Louis with Federal Transit Administration funding. The project joins sculpture, a concrete plaza floor and fencing; the artist also credits architectural, landscape and fabrication collaborators.
