Documented artwork / monumental public sculpture

Flor de Esperanza (Flower of Hope)

Sebastián

Credit as documented: Sebastián (Enrique Carbajal)

Flor de Esperanza is Sebastián's yellow geometric flower for University Health's Salud-Arte program. Its angled stem and interlocking triangular blossom suggest a flower leaning in the wind. A July 31, 2026 University Health account documents its return from North Side storage to a plinth outside the new Palo Alto Hospital. The sculpture had previously stood at University Hospital and was removed for construction of the Women's and Children's Hospital. Wanderlust Ironworks cared for it during the intervening years, preserving a specific relocation history rather than an assumed continuous display.
