Documented artwork / temporary sculpture exhibition
Feallan and Fallow
Credit as documented: Alison Saar
Feallan and Fallow was Alison Saar's temporary sculpture presentation in Madison Square Park, New York, from September 22 through December 31, 2011. The Conservancy describes six works and also mentions two Treesouls dating to 1994 alongside the seasonal female figures. The Persephone myth provides a framework for fertility, maturation and seasonal change. Spring occupies an existing tree trunk with root-like hair and chrysalises; Summer is pregnant and associated with fireflies. Fall gathers pomegranates beneath branching growth, while Winter curls on the ground. The arrangement connects bodily form with living park vegetation.
