Documented artwork / overhead environmental sculpture

Embrace

Sayaka Ganz

Credit as documented: Sayaka Ganz

Sayaka Ganz developed Embrace for the overhead lobby space of Port Canaveral's new welcome center, subsequently named Exploration Tower. The artist dates the permanent installation to 2013, when she was invited to propose environmental artwork for the building. Local marine life informed the composition, including her earlier vision of whales spiraling toward the surface. Some of the plastics came from a nearby beach cleanup, connecting the work's material reuse to its coastal setting.

Materials and construction

The documented placement is inside the tower lobby. Port Canaveral's reviewed notice says Exploration Tower remains closed until further notice and cannot host special events. The installation history therefore does not establish current public access to Embrace.
