Documented artwork / interactive fountain / video sculpture
Crown Fountain
Credit as documented: Jaume Plensa
Jaume Plensa's Crown Fountain combines video portraits, water and a shallow granite pool in Chicago's Millennium Park. Two glass towers face one another across a public space where visitors can walk through the thin water layer. Portraits draw on recordings of 1,000 Chicago residents. The artist dates the work to 2004 and identifies the city's Public Art Program commission. Chicago's Public Building Commission describes seasonal water operation with images shown year-round. The artist's metric dimensions and the agency's imperial measurements are retained separately.
