Clock Knot

Mark di Suvero

Credit as documented: Mark di Suvero

Clock Knot uses crossed steel beams and a circular center to suggest a clock whose apparent geometry changes as viewers walk around it. A beam that seems vertical from one position reveals an inverted V from another. Mark di Suvero’s 2007 sculpture was installed at the University of Texas at Austin in 2008, initially on loan; Landmarks acquired it in 2013. Those dates describe creation, installation and purchase respectively.
