Documented artwork / integrated transit sculpture and seating
Bronx River View
Credit as documented: Barbara Grygutis
Barbara Grygutis's Bronx River View integrates five stainless-steel units into the platform windscreens at Whitlock Avenue station in the Bronx. The 2010 work frames the neighborhood, Bronx River and Concrete Plant Park while providing places to rest. Its opposing seats encourage conversation between passengers, and the openings admit light and air to the platform. The artist identifies the commission as part of MTA Arts for Transit's permanent-art program. M3 Engineering & Technology Corporation provided engineering, and Art Metal Industries fabricated the work.
