Documented artwork / landscape sculpture
Attun
Credit as documented: DeWitt Godfrey
Attun follows the land at the historic Boylan Avenue entrance to Raleigh's Dorothea Dix Park. DeWitt Godfrey arranged more than eighty Corten steel cylinders in differing shapes and sizes to form a low, horizontal composition. The Dix Park Conservancy describes a partnership with park staff that brought the work to the entrance in March 2024. Rather than occupying a level pedestal, the sculpture curves through a shallow swale and responds to the surrounding topography. Godfrey describes this relation between object and landscape as central to the project.

The cylindrical units vary in size and shape, allowing the assembled form to follow gentle changes in the ground. The conservancy's description emphasizes this terrain-dependent arrangement.
