Liquid Shard: a temporary civic square intervention
Patrick Shearn's Liquid Shard occupied Pershing Square in Los Angeles from July 28 to August 11, 2016. Poetic Kinetics documents 15,000 square feet of holographic Mylar and monofilament arranged in two layers. Wind transformed its shape, while the design considered views both from the square and from surrounding offices. Now Art LA secured the location, and Shearn developed the site-specific work with students from AAV School. This is a dated installation precedent, not a current placement offer.
What ground-level and upper-story views should the work address, and what site permissions and attachment arrangements would a new design require?

Helix Poeticus: sculpture, animatronics and a moving platform
The 2013 Coachella Snail, Helix Poeticus, was built around a variable-reach forklift and measured 80 feet long by 30 feet tall. Its shell began as a parametric computer model, translated into a plywood structure with corrugated-plastic covering. The studio records 24 axes of computer-controlled motion and a shell intervention by the artist duo Herakut. This documentation distinguishes the sculpture's expressive surface from the vehicle, control system and fabrication work that enabled its slow movement through the festival.
Would a proposed work move or remain stationary, and who would plan its route, operating crew and audience interface?

Caterpillar's Longing: a story told in two forms
For Coachella 2015, Caterpillar's Longing paired a caterpillar and a butterfly as a narrative about transformation. The studio describes a 90-foot-long caterpillar built with a PVC and fabric façade around a variable-reach forklift, with mechanical and animatronic legs and internal lighting. The butterfly used moving wings covered with 50,000 colored flags. The source presents different caterpillar head-height figures in different sections, so a prospective production should obtain a version-specific technical drawing rather than rely on that dimension.
