Research notes for project planning
What the project record tells us
The Henderson Art Garden, Hong Kong, 2025.
A permanent work follows two living trees
Hypnotic Dream is documented as a permanent audiovisual installation in the Art Garden of The Henderson in Hong Kong. Its five-minute loop is projected onto two Chorisia trees, with distinct sequences developed for each tree’s form and position. The garden offers a place to sit and experience the slow imagery and sound in the evening. For a comparable landscape commission, a buyer should ask how tree growth, seasonal changes, projector positions and routine garden care would be addressed while keeping the work aligned with its living surfaces.

Geological form becomes the projection’s starting point
Lithogenesis was developed for a coastal rock formation at Island of Light in Smögen, Sweden, in 2025. The nine-minute audiovisual work follows processes such as cooling, pressure, tectonic movement and glacial shaping, connecting projected imagery to the formation of the actual landscape. Frank later extended its visual language to additional rock bodies on the island. A prospective host should ask what geological and visual study a new site would require, and where audiences and projectors can be positioned to preserve the relationship between image and rock.

Big Art Partners planning prompt Lyon festival installation in the fountains of Place de la République.
Recovered fishing nets become an urban reef
Coral ghosts placed discarded fishing nets in the fountains of Lyon’s Place de la République, where video projections surrounded the resulting forms with an animated marine landscape. The Fête des Lumières project page credits Philipp Frank as artist and Lauge & Baba Gnohm for music. The work links a recovered material to the vulnerability of coral ecosystems. A host considering a related intervention should ask how the nets would be supported, how fountain access and maintenance would be protected, and where viewers can experience the projection around the structure.
