Numen/For Use is the collaboration of Sven Jonke, Christoph Katzler and Nikola Radeljković. Its practice spans conceptual art, scenography, industrial and spatial design, with immersive installations that turn tape, nets and supporting structures into environments visitors can physically explore.

What the project record tells us
1830 Warehouse, Manchester Science Festival, 2017
Budget for the making process on site
The Science and Industry Museum’s 2017 account of Tape describes a week of construction by three Numen/For Use artists and twelve volunteers. The tunnel network hung from the wooden pillars of the 1830 Warehouse and admitted up to five people at a time. These are details of that installation, useful for framing a new conversation. A host should establish the available construction window, artist supervision and audience-management model, while asking for structural and access requirements tailored to its own space.
What construction window, supervised labor and visitor-management arrangement would the proposed version require?

Palazzo Clerici courtyard, Milan Design Week, 2024
Keep design, engineering and assembly credits distinct
Net Milan occupied Palazzo Clerici’s courtyard during Milan Design Week in 2024, supported by Porsche’s Art of Dreams initiative. The studio describes modular metal cells carrying black and white netting, and credits Ivana Jonke for creative collaboration, Format Engineers for structural engineering, and Prostoria for production and assembly. For a comparable courtyard commission, the important planning issue is how those responsibilities meet. The brief should define who develops the structure, verifies it, assembles it and accepts the completed installation before public use.
Who would hold responsibility for design development, structural verification, assembly and acceptance of the installation?

aut. architektur und tirol, Innsbruck, 2015
Begin with the host architecture and anchor points
Tube Innsbruck was presented at aut. architektur und tirol in 2015. Its stitched safety-net passage was supported by elastic strings distributed across surrounding surfaces, allowing visitors to experience the architecture from inside a suspended mesh route. The studio describes the shape as responsive to the disposition of its supports. For a future host, this makes the building survey an early creative input: identify possible attachment locations, circulation below and around the tube, and how visitors would enter and leave the experience.
