Program context & project planning
How the program works
An existing-work pool supports several transaction types
Madison’s continuous call accepts up to ten existing artworks per artist each year for consideration in city projects. Selected works may be bought, borrowed or licensed. Registration does not guarantee selection, and the published opportunity page distinguishes this pool from project-specific calls.
Are dimensions, location, ownership and proposed purchase or loan terms ready?
The Public Market combines funding and art forms
Madison’s Public Market art plan documents a collection of sculpture, murals and installations supported by municipal arts funds and private foundations. The page lists fabrication and installation as its phase, with two works still to be installed. This is an awarded program rather than a new artist intake.
How will each installation coordinate with the building’s use and remaining works?
Conservation planning is a documented municipal need
Madison’s stewardship page describes assessment, 3D scanning and community consultation for Annie Stewart Fountain. It also records conservation needs at the Capitol Square fountains. These examples support early care planning; an anticipated conservation RFP is not confirmation that a solicitation has been released.
