Program context & project planning
How the program works
Selection includes the facility and its designers
Wyoming describes a committee involving building users, an architect, community and arts representatives, and state construction staff. The Arts Council facilitates without voting. Qualifications are submitted through CaFÉ, with preference for Wyoming artists. Project-specific criteria still determine how a portfolio is evaluated.
How will the proposal address the facility users' needs?
TumbleWhale connects material and architecture
The program identifies Ben Roth as the artist selected in 2025 for TumbleWhale at Central Wyoming College's Jackson facility. It describes a planned clerestory installation using collected tumbleweeds. This is an awarded-project precedent for an unconventional regional material; the page does not establish completed installation.
What access and material-care plan would a comparable suspended work require?
Landform Journey belongs to a gathering space
Northwest College identifies Landform Journey by Shelley and Rob Beishline of Tooza Design above the central fireplace in its new student center. The work draws on Heart Mountain and Bighorn Basin topography. Its placement links a regional narrative with a prominent shared interior.
RFQs through CaFE; committees represent facility, community, architect and State Construction, with council facilitation.
