The opportunity
Site-responsive outdoor installations for Botanica’s 20-acre garden campus and its 40th-anniversary exhibition. Proposals must connect to landscape, horticulture, ecology or place; use durable, low-maintenance materials; provide ADA accessibility and a conservation/maintenance plan; and remain feasible through transport, installation and deinstallation. Submit a letter with preliminary concept/sketches, up to ten work samples, itemized budget, artist statement and CV. Artist selection is planned November 30, 2026; fabrication March–April and installation late April 2027. The exhibition lists a May 29 opening and end-of-September close without stating the year beside those dates.
Who can apply
Artists living or working in Kansas, born or raised there, or with a substantial Kansas connection (team leads must qualify); any career stage; 18+. Botanica and City of Wichita employees and panelists are ineligible. Experience with similar-scale public art is a criterion; land and ecological art experience is a plus.
