Forecast Public Artist Project Grants — 2027 cycle (Minnesota)

Forecast Public Art

The opportunity

Creation of a new, publicly accessible temporary or permanent public artwork anywhere in Minnesota (installations, murals and sculpture as well as performance and social practice).

Who can apply

Minnesota-based artists, including Native Nations sharing its geography, who have lived in the state for at least 12 of the previous 24 months and remain resident through the project. Early-career eligibility is generally 2–10 years; mid-career is at least 10 years. The FAQ excludes currently enrolled students; another eligibility section says full-time students. Part-time student eligibility is therefore not established. Organizations and Forecast insiders are excluded. Only one application per annual cycle; no consecutive-year project grants. Projects must be new, artist-initiated and freely accessible; commissions are ineligible and site permission is required.

Funding & costs

Project grants of $8,000 (early-career, two awards) and $10,000 (mid-career, five awards), each requiring a budget showing the project can be done for that amount; funded period January 1–November 30, 2027. The cycle’s R&D and professional-development grants do not fund artwork creation and are excluded.
