beautifulPB Coastal Gateway in-street mural, Mission Bay Park

The opportunity

Community-painted, in-street wayfinding mural up to 70 x 150 ft reflecting local wildlife, native habitat and ecological identity, with a paint-by-numbers plan for the community event. Design feedback with Kumeyaay community members and beautifulPB; must follow the City of San Diego Mural Toolkit and right-of-way mural guidelines. Artist notified by December 1, 2026.

Who can apply

San Diego County-based mural artists meeting the City of San Diego's definition of an artist; public art, community engagement and large-scale mural experience encouraged.

Funding & costs

$6,000 artist stipend for designing the mural and helping lead the community painting event; paint and supplies are provided separately.
