Barber Park Recreation Center public art RFQ — Orlando

Orange County Arts & Cultural Affairs (Orange County Public Art Review Board, with Orange County Parks and Recreation)

The opportunity

Site-specific art for the new recreation center: outdoor free-standing non-climbable sculpture/kinetic or sensory features and two-dimensional entrance/lobby works. Sculpture lighting is supplied. Construction is described as early 2027–early 2028 while art installation is listed summer–fall 2027; the issuer says the extended timeline will be updated. These dates are tentative and internally inconsistent.

Who can apply

Professional artists working in any appropriate media (CaFE location eligibility: International); students may apply with an experienced public-art mentor. A structural engineer must verify stability.

The $29,100 covers one or more contracts, not each artist. Shortlisted proposals receive $300 with allocation unresolved; the construction and art-installation timelines also need confirmation.
