The opportunity

A large exterior mural marking Manhattan’s partner-city relationship with Dobrichovice (Central Bohemia), on painted corrugated-metal siding facing an active street; it must read from a moving car and from the sidewalk. Submissions reviewed on a rolling basis until the deadline; finalists November 2 and concept designs due November 18, 2026; selection November 23, 2026; completion by May 1, 2028.

Who can apply

‘Individuals or teams, any location’: artists in the United States, the Czech Republic or elsewhere; past work must be submitted.

Funding & costs

Base commission of $12,000, all-inclusive (design fee, surface preparation, paint and supplies, cleanup, travel, lodging and meals); +$1,000 if a Czech-resident artist is selected; $200 to each finalist for a timely concept design; an on-site lift is provided at no cost. Paid 50% on agreement and design approval and 50% on completion.
