Research notes for project planning
What the project record tells us
2022 façade performance and related digital presentations, following the 2021 indoor installation.
Separate the façade performance from other formats
Living Architecture: Casa Batlló includes several distinct presentations. Anadol’s studio documents a façade-mapping performance in Barcelona on May 7, 2022, a public display at Rockefeller Plaza and a dynamic digital work using real-time city climate data. The project developed from the earlier In the Mind of Gaudí installation inside Casa Batlló, a six-sided LED room. A buyer should first ask which format is relevant: an architectural performance, a screen-based presentation or an enclosed immersive room, since the source does not make their production requirements interchangeable.

Big Art Partners planning prompt MoMA Gund Lobby exhibition, November 2022–October 2023.
A museum’s collection and environment feed the work
For Unsupervised at MoMA, Anadol trained a machine-learning model on publicly available collection data and combined the resulting imagery with inputs from the museum’s Gund Lobby. Changes in light, movement, acoustics and weather influenced the continuously evolving images and sound. MoMA identifies custom software, real-time animation and an LED screen as components of the installation. For another institution, a planning brief should ask which collection data can be used, which environmental inputs matter artistically and who will maintain the software and sensing systems over time.

Big Art Partners planning prompt LA Philharmonic archival project with exterior projection and gallery companion formats.
One archive supports exterior and intimate experiences
WDCH Dreams drew on the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s digital archive for an exterior projection work and an interactive gallery companion. The studio documents forty-two projectors and eight-channel sound for the concert hall’s stainless-steel exterior, while the gallery concept used a touchscreen, mirrored surfaces and two-channel projection to let individuals navigate archival material. Robert Thomas and Kerim Karaoglu are credited for sound design. A commissioning brief should ask how archival preparation, building projection and individual interaction will be scoped as separate production tasks before combining them into one visitor program.
