Michael Emery

Michael Emery creates participatory installations using reflective metal, ceramic tile, painting and sound. Burning Man’s archives credit his practice from Santa Cruz and Felton, California, across several event years. PARAGATE, described in the 2017 archive, combines an eleven-foot steel portal with a mosaic of small mirrors and an audio collage. Nirmanakaya uses sculpted ceramic tiles, a monolith and voice-changing microphones, while VIMOKSHA explores fragmented reflections and layered sound. Later references include the patterned steel dome Mercurialosity and the painted rectangular form Return of the Dreamtime. The portfolio below records named festival projects and their event-year contexts; it does not establish their current condition, location or availability. This is the California installation artist, without any asserted connection to artists with the same name elsewhere.
