Research notes for project planning
What the project record tells us
Into The Light, Grande Halle de la Villette, Paris, 2025
Halo: a visitor-centered circular environment
The Into The Light exhibition documents Halo as a 2025 circular immersive installation in which the visitor occupies the center of the experience. Its title draws on the optical halos seen around the sun or moon. The source explicitly credits technical design and production to Alpha 2, Antoine Dupuy and Andrea Granier. This is a useful precedent for considering an artist's concept together with a separate technical production team. The Paris exhibition dates describe a past presentation, not current availability.

For your project briefWho would provide the technical production, and how would the host define visitor access, dwell time and sensory information for a circular light environment?

Terminal: a civic-square light-art precedent
The City of Gerlingen records Terminal on its Rathausplatz during the 2016 Aufstiege light-art festival. The regional program involved site-specific works at publicly accessible places across 27 municipalities, while Gerlingen's project involved the Akademie Schloss Solitude and Robert Bosch GmbH. The city describes Halatek's use of light at the intersection of visual, architectural and sculptural experience. This establishes a municipal presentation and partnership context; it does not establish the technical construction or current location of Terminal.

For your project briefWhich site owner and cultural partners would coordinate access, lighting hours and installation permissions for a civic-square presentation?
Big Art Partners planning prompt Noor Riyadh, 2021
Beacon: monumental form with an intimate interior
Riyadh Art identifies Beacon as a 2021 Noor Riyadh work: a vertical pillar of white light that also contains a small space visitors can enter. The commissioning program presents the contrast between the large exterior marker and the interior experience as central to the work. This is relevant when a brief seeks both a landmark visible at a distance and an individual encounter. The program page does not provide power demand, interior capacity or the engineering requirements for a new location.

For your project briefHow would a host reconcile the landmark's external brightness with interior access, queueing, neighboring uses and the artist's technical requirements?
