Aurum: a permanent civic plaza commission
HYBYCOZO records Aurum as a 2024 installation in San Francisco’s Mint Plaza, commissioned by the San Francisco Arts Commission. The stellated form uses welded, powder-coated stainless steel and LED lighting. Its connection to the neighboring Old Mint provides a specific example of geometric sculpture responding to local history.
What local story should a new commission express, and how should it read in daylight and after dark?
