What the project record tells us

Scottsdale waterfront commission, 2015

A canal and bridge as the artwork’s setting

GOLDEN WATERS was commissioned by Scottsdale Public Art in 2015 for the Soleri Bridge waterfront. Amorós used LED tubing and a programmed light sequence in a composition connected to the bridge and canal. Her account links the work to irrigation history and to the relationship between urban development and water. For a future waterfront brief, this is a useful precedent for discussing the existing structure, sightlines and water setting together. Attachment permissions and site engineering would need their own project review.

BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival, 2018

Designing a canopy around an existing festival

HEDERA was installed at Prospect Park in 2018 for BRIC’s anniversary season. Its elevated dome drew on the bandshell and surrounding vegetation, while red and white light sequences and reflective cupolas gave people reasons to gather beneath it. The project provides a concrete reference for art sharing a site with an established concert programme. A host considering a comparable commission could map audience movement, stage visibility and lawn use before choosing the sculpture’s position, rather than treating these as decisions to make after fabrication.

Time Equities Art-in-Buildings, New York, 2014

Connecting an atrium with the street outside

BREATHLESS MAIDEN LANE was commissioned through Time Equities Art-in-Buildings in 2014. The artist describes white and gold LED tubing, stainless steel and reflective materials, with a concept informed by Lower Manhattan’s street patterns. Her account places the suspended work in the atrium at 125 Maiden Lane and connects its visual presence with the street beyond. A commissioning discussion could therefore examine both interior and exterior viewpoints, including how glazing and reflective finishes change the appearance of a light sculpture through the day.
