What the project record tells us

Temporary forest installation · 2022 project design

Paradisium: reclaimed timber arranged as a grove

The collective’s original Paradisium proposal describes a triangular grove of geometric trees built mainly from recovered Bay Area lumber, with patterned cladding made from old fence boards. The 2022 plan calls for trees in three sizes and a canopy twelve feet above the ground. Its proposed elevated walkways were explicitly dependent on funding, so that feature should not be represented as confirmed construction from this page alone.

Modular timber installation · transport and material reuse

Designing the forest for transport and another installation

In a 2022 interview, the Paradisium team explains that trees were designed either to disassemble into flat stacks or to nest inside one another for transport. The team also reused metal hold-down units recovered before The Folly burned and kept a shared container of tools for successive builds. This documents a practical approach to reuse through component design and logistics, rather than treating reclaimed timber alone as the project’s sustainability story.

Post-event preservation · Fly Ranch, Nevada, 2022 record

A documented afterlife beyond the festival burn

Burning Man’s 2022 retrospective confirms that Paradisium was not burned. Its Fly Ranch section also names several Paradisium trees among artworks being welcomed onto that property. Together, those dated statements record a preservation and relocation direction beyond the original festival presentation. They do not establish the current location of every tree, an intact touring set or a present offer to lease or sell the installation.
