David Date
David Date’s archive-listed work explores human-powered motion, light and participatory structures. Burning Man identifies him with Santa Cruz and records Kinetic MerKaBa Vehicle in 2017: visitors climb a spiral staircase into an upholstered rotating structure, with a gong sounded by its movement. MerKaBa Portal, listed in 2019 and again in 2022, also invites participants to climb inside and turn amid pulsing light. Myriapoda Robota, the 2018 mechanical-centipede project, is credited jointly to Date, David Han and Art to Be Continued Collective. These records document a collaborative kinetic practice; they do not establish present installation locations or whether repeated titles refer to unchanged physical objects.
